Why is footwear important

With either method, look at how your footprint is outlined on you imprint. If your insole is worn down more on the inside of your shoe, then you most likely pronate. If your insole is worn down on the outside of the foot then you most likely supinate. If the wear is even, than you have a neutral foot. Once you know your wear pattern, go to the shoe store with a purpose.

Ask for shoes that fix a pronation or supination. Also go to the store later in the day. Feet swell as the day goes by, so a shoe that fits before physical activity might not fit after running a mile.

Remember that walking shoes are not the same as running shoes. Walking shows are made stiffer and have less cushioning, running shoes are more lightweight and flexible with more cushioning to absorb more shock. Many people who experience back pain have it because of faulty or unsuitable footwear.

If the foot does not keep the back in proper alignment then there is a great probability that this misalignment over time will result in back problems. Sometimes adding an insole is a good idea as this will cushion the hard impact of walking, puts your foot into a more neutral position and therefore takes away the stress travelling through your ankles up into your legs and lower back.

Good footwear is needed to protect your joints and minimize impact. Some of the most common sports injuries are ankle based which is why wearing supportive footwear is so important.

Many sports trainers have inbuilt shock absorbers for runners or joggers to cushion the impact. We all know the importance of heavy steel toe-capped boots for those who work in the construction industry. But safety shoes come in a range of different styles that make them suitable for many different working environments, including airports, logistics and the transport industries. Below we explore five reasons why employees need to wear safety shoes. When working in busy and fast-moving environments, it's important that workers not only wear protective clothing, but that their feet are protected from potential crush injuries.

Going without shoes in areas without proper disposal methods for animal and human waste makes people susceptible to parasitic worms and other foot infections.

These diseases can be debilitating or even lethal. Going barefoot puts humans at risk for hookworm, tick bites and injuries. Stepping on broken glass or rusty nails, have a nasty encounter with a prickly bush or winding up with an itchy rash from poison ivy are also concerns.

Most of us living in the United States are very lucky to have access to multiple pairs of good footwear, and we often stop wearing shoes before they are truly worn out.
