What is the difference between a hornpipe and a reel

Skyblue, I don't know that you have to listen to a specific mando player to get a sense of the rhythm of these types of tunes, just listen to the genre.

They all play with wonderful variation on the the pulse of this music although I would suggest that Winnie Horan's fiddling with the group Solas is a little more superfast-modern Irish. Kevin Burke fiddle 2. DeDanaan, although they tend to play hornpipes close to reels, either that or Frankie Gavin fiddle and flute plays with a fair bit of swing.
