Posted on 14 Apr Antigua Sailing Week cancelled This decision was taken after in-depth consideration Event organisers will be joining local government and the international community in working to limit and eradicate the COVID spread by cancelling the edition of Antigua Sailing Week ASW.
As the Covid pandemic continues to challenge countries around the world, Antigua and Barbuda are no exception. Currently, yachting stakeholders are cautiously optimistic about the potential for some return to normality. Posted on 24 Apr Antigua Sailing Week cancelled The decision to cancel was the only viable option As a result of national and global measures being taken to contain COVID pandemic and the priority being the health and safety of citizens, competitors, spectators and volunteers, the decision to cancel Antigua Sailing Week is the only viable option.
Posted on 19 Mar The ASW was also cancelled due to the pandemic. The timing of this decision for the cancellation was taken after in-depth consideration of the obligations participants have to charter companies, hotels and villa companies, shipping companies, and also taking into account international travel restrictions and an inability to organize an impenetrable bubble for the safety of all participants, volunteers, and the wider community.
This cancellation, while being the right thing to do, hurts our sailing soul. We are truly excited to get back to what we love, the business of yacht racing, next year. As the sails are disengaged and the boats return ashore, the fun continues with an explosion of day and night events. Covid health and safety protocols are in place for participants, spectators, and judges of Antigua Sailing Week and all the related events.
